1.     Limited Right to Use

AdoptOntario is a program of the Adoption Council of Ontario with the support of the Ontario Ministry of Children and Youth Services. This website has been developed to increase the ability for collaboration among Children's Aid Societies, and between these agencies and the private adoption system, in achieving adoption placements for Ontario children. The use of this professional section of the website is restricted, so you must agree to the following:

o      You or the organization through which you received the privilege of using this system operates within the Province of Ontario .

o      You understand that training to use the adoption resources databank located within the professional site is advisable and provided by AdoptOntario. Before using the databank feature, you have received the appropriate AdoptOntario Professional user training from an AdoptOntario Professional trainer or from a colleague who has taken the training and is proficient with navigating the program.

o      You are one the following:

      an Adoption Supervisor in an Ontario Children's Aid Society

      an employee of a Children's Aid Society authorized by your respective Adoption Supervisor

      a Director or authorized employee of a Licensed Private Adoption Agency

      an approved Ontario Private Adoption Practitioner

      an Ontario Adoption Licensee

      an employee of the Ontario Ministry of Children & Youth Services responsible for adoption programs

      an employee of the organization responsible for operating the system

o      You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your password and user account, and are responsible for all activities that occur under your password or account.

o      You agree to notify AdoptOntario immediately of any unauthorized use of your password or account or any other breach of security, and to ensure that you exit from your account at the end of each session.

o      You agree to notify AdoptOntario that your password should be terminated when you cease working in the capacity in which you were provided authorization for a password to use this site. If unable to do so, you understand that it is the ultimate responsibility of your immediate supervisor to ensure that authorization for your password is terminated. .


2.     Maintenance of Confidentiality
The information which you enter on this system is securely protected through the technical provisions of TP systems, which created the program and maintains it, as outlined in their End User License Agreement (EULA). You agree that as a user you are also responsible to protect the personal information on this website, and agree to the following:

o      You will observe all privacy legislation and policies established in the Province of Ontario applying to the information presented in this system. In particular, you have read and will adhere to the AdoptOntario Privacy Policy  

o      You will not knowingly input inaccurate or false information into the system.

o      You will ensure that all information you enter is current and regularly updated.

o      You will remove or put on hold any and all information on a particular child or family that you entered, when they should no longer be on the system, according to AdoptOntario guidelines.

o      You will obtain consents of adoptive applicants to enter their personal information, using the appropriate AdoptOntario Consent form.

o      You will obtain the consent of any birth parent of a child, including an unborn child, to enter the child's personal information in cases where the child is still the legal child of the birth parent, using the appropriate AdoptOntario Consent form.

o      You will not share any information presented in this system with others not authorized to view that information.

o      You will not produce copies (print outs, screen shots, etc.) of the information presented in this system without the express consent of the author of the particular information ( eg. a homestudy).
